Meet Paul and Anne
Paul graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1979 with an A.A.S. in Natural Resources Conservation. He also studied at SUNY Buffalo. Paul has been teaching conservation principles and working with raptors for over 40 years. His experience includes banding kestrels and screech owls in nesting boxes, hunting with a variety of raptors as a falconer, and conducting educational programs, including photography, with non-releasable raptors and a flightless bald eagle Liberty, he acquired in 1989. In the 1990’s he maintained a captive wolf pack and a pair of mountain lions at his Lyndonville facility. Paul is also a nature photographer and a writer. His photographs and/or articles have appeared in many periodicals, newsletters and two books. He is currently penning a book on Liberty’s 22 years as a travelling ambassador for nature.
Anne attended Washington State University for her B.S. in Wildlife Management and the University of New Hampshire for her M.S. degree in Wildlife Ecology. She is a professor of Environmental Conservation and Horticulture at Finger Lakes Community College and the department chairperson. Anne’s experience with raptors includes 12 years of capturing, banding and studying wild raptors during the spring migration at Braddock Bay in Hilton, New York. She co-cahirs Braddock Bay Raptor Research and serves as the director of banding operations. She has also lead educational programs with non-releasable raptors for many years and is an apprentice falconer. Braddock Bay Raptor Research Website Anne and Paul jointly received the Hugh E. Cumming Environmental Quality Award on October 19, 2008 for their ongoing work in preserving habitat and open space in the Town of Parma. |
